WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican National Committee passed a resolution this morning, which will work to encourage Republican candidates to fight back against the Democrats’ ‘War on Women’ attacks and states that the RNC will not support the “strategy of silence” when it comes to Republican candidates and the life issues.

President of American Principles in Action Frank Cannon, said of the news of this resolution’s passage,

“We would like to thank Chairman Priebus, the co-sponsors of this resolution, and the RNC delegates for voting in favor of this resolution. This is a great step in the right direction for the Republican party and for the American people. The Republican party should be steadfast on their stance on life, and be unafraid to fight back against the Democrats’ ‘War on Women’ rhetoric. The American people stand with the Republican party on the issue of life, and hugely disagree with the abortion extremism of the current Administration. This step by the RNC shows that the Republicans are ready to be strong advocates for life in 2014 and beyond.”

Author and chief sponsor of the resolution, RNC Committeewoman and APIA board member Ellen Barrosse, said:

“The Republican Party is proudly pro-life and my resolution talks about successful strategies for connecting with American voters on the Life issue. The position on the life issue that Democrats have staked out is extreme, and we want our candidates to know how to fight back against Democrats’ deceptive, ‘war on Women’ rhetoric.

This resolution comes on the heels of the American Principles in Action’s report “Building a Winning GOP Coalition,” which was released in October 2013. APIA’s report recommended that the Republican party speak out on the social issues, including life issues, instead of using their current ‘strategy of silence’ on the social issues. This report was released in October 2013 and can be read in full here.
